We're Luckier Than We Think

If there is one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that time truly does seem to fly by if you’re not paying close attention. We get so caught up in our day to day activities that the days blur into weeks, weeks blur into months and the next thing we know, the year has passed us by.
As I wrote the date down yesterday on my order log, I caught myself thinking “Already almost the end of March? How did that happen?!” I sat back in my chair for a while, purely thinking about all the things I have seen, the people I have met and the experiences I’ve had the chance to be a part of over the past few months. Needless to say, there was a lot to think about! But, the one thing that stood out to me was that, in all of my recollections, I have always appreciated the time I took to fully reflect and realize how lucky I truly am to have the experiences and interactions that I do.
Our minds are often consumed by our daily routines. We become consumed with problem solving and always trying to evolve ourselves, whether it be personally or professionally, into something better. And, while I am a firm believer that challenging yourself is never a bad idea, I realized that sometimes it truly is better to sit back and smell the roses.
Before this year slips away, I encourage you to take the time to sit back and consider how lucky we truly are. Maybe it’s once a month, maybe it’s once a week, or maybe that’s how you decide to start each and every day. Either way, I think you’ll find that time spent reminiscing about the good can help to make all the difference in how we let the time pass us by.
