‘Friend’ Spotlight: Extraordinary Ventures

In continuation of our spotlight series, we’re shining a big, bright, extraordinary light on a company that certainly lives up to its name: Extraordinary Ventures!

So, who are they?

Extraordinary Ventures is a Chapel Hill, NC-based non-profit that employs young men and women with autism and other developmental disabilities. Their mission is to “bridge the gap between education and vocation by providing communication structures and manufacturing skills that emphasize the strengths of our unique employees.”

What do their employees do?

They make a variety of homemade products, specializing in particular in hand poured, richly scented candles.

How does Extraordinary Ventures relate to Aunt Laurie’s?

Well, you’ll find many of their beautifully wrapped soy candles in our themed gift baskets, as well as for individual purchase. They come in a variety of scents, including Carolina Coast, Citrus Grove, Creamy Vanilla, Hazelnut Coffee and Honeydew Melon in addition to fun holiday scents like Cranberry Candy Cane and Christmas Tree. They make a great holiday gift!

Why does this matter?

Having just celebrated National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Extraordinary Ventures is worthy of recognition, as it is one of the many organizations throughout the nation that is working to provide disability support and employment to very capable and talented individuals. We are so proud to offer their products!

In the words of our customer, Anne C.:

“The candle smells fabulous and we will enjoy using!”
