A Special Message For A New Year
Share
As I reflect back on 2015, it’s hard to believe that Aunt Laurie’s was founded just nine months ago. We’ve certainly accomplished a lot in a short amount of time – from expanding our list of “family and friends” to include nearly 15 organizations to being named “Client of the Year” by SCORE’s Lowcountry Chapter and a “Business Startup of the Year” finalist in the Bluffton Chamber of Commerce’s Business Awards – and I am incredibly humbled by the enthusiasm and support of everyone who has joined us on our mission.
I remain particularly grateful to those who form the core of our business: individuals with disabilities who give meaning to each and every one of our gift baskets. Working with them brings an abundance of light into my life and I can only hope it does the same for those who buy and receive our handmade gift baskets.
With a New Year before us, it is only natural to ponder personal and professional aspirations and hopes, goals and ambitions. Sometimes, however, the best, most practical New Year’s resolutions are some of the simplest; sometimes it is the “smallest” act that can have the biggest impact.
I am reminded of the phrase “being good to others”, which can mean a variety of things to a variety of people. To me – and to Aunt Laurie’s – it means acknowledging the human value in everyone – or, simply put, recognizing that all people, regardless of their limitations or challenges, have value. After all, each one of us is unique…and isn’t that what makes everyone so special?
So, here’s to a New Year, to doing good and to making 2016 a special one!
If you support our mission of “inspiring others to acknowledge the human value in everyone”, I hope you’ll consider purchasing one of our themed gift baskets – including thank you gift baskets, wedding gift baskets, new baby gift baskets, dog gift baskets and more; you can also create your own gift basket from a selection of products.
