A Dose of "Feeling Good" for the January Blues

The month of January can be a tough time. With the holidays over and the winter season fully upon us, it’s only natural to feel a little dispirited and “down” as we return to work and enter back into our daily routines.

While there exist a number of tips, suggestions and remedies for overcoming these “January blues,” there’s one in particular that I have found to be highly effective over the years: helping others.

Indeed, as Mark Twain once wrote, “The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.”

It might seem a bit counterintuitive to suggest that helping others or doing something kind for someone else will make us feel better. But, as I’m sure many have experienced firsthand, we tend to receive a greater sense of fulfillment and cheer in giving to someone else, rather than giving something to ourselves. Of course, it never hurts to be reminded of this.

In an attempt to lift the spirit of others, Aunt Laurie’s has recently added a new category of themed gift baskets called “Pamper Someone”, featuring a spa and relaxation gift basket, “indulge” gift basket, “healthy cooking” gift basket and “feeling good” gift basket.

We could all use a little dose of “feeling good” in these cold, dark days of January. So, why not pamper someone with one of our gift baskets? After all, not only will you be helping to lift their spirit and yours, but you’ll also be supporting the individuals with disabilities who make all of our gift baskets (and many of the products in them). It’s a triple win for everyone!
